Why it matters: HUMAIN says it plans 3 gigawatts of AI data center capacity by 2030, and the closing pairs Saudi Arabia's sovereign fund with its national oil company behind that build-out.

Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Aramco have closed a deal under which Aramco takes a 49% stake in HUMAIN, the kingdom's artificial intelligence company, according to a joint statement the two published on Nov 1 through the Saudi Press Agency. Aramco holds the stake through a wholly owned subsidiary, and PIF keeps the remaining 51%.

What Aramco is putting in: the statement says the deal involves about SAR 9.9 billion ($2.6 billion) in cash from Aramco to HUMAIN in 2026, in addition to AI, compute and digital assets. PIF and Aramco both contribute AI assets, capabilities and talent, the statement says.

What HUMAIN does: According to the statement, HUMAIN started in May 2025 and is building AI across four areas: data centers, infrastructure and cloud platforms, AI models including its Arabic large language model ALLaM, and AI applications for businesses and government. It says it plans to deploy 3 gigawatts of AI data center capacity by 2030 and aims to become one of the leading exporters of AI globally. Those are the company's own goals.

What each side expects: Aramco expects to use HUMAIN's AI infrastructure for industrial applications, and the statement says the partnership is expected to help Aramco earn more from its existing AI and digital assets alongside its core energy business. PIF says the deal fits its 2026-2030 strategy. Aramco also says it has recorded $11.3 billion in "Technology Realized Value" since 2023, a measure it defines itself, with a significant share from AI solutions.

The statement does not say what valuation the stake implies.
