Google on Oct 28 announced Gemini 4 Carbon, which it calls "our strongest model with state-of-the-art cybersecurity and long horizon capabilities." It comes two weeks after Gemini 4 Argon.

Carbon isn't broadly available yet. Google said it will make Carbon available to "a subset of cyber defenders" starting this week, then add trusted partners gradually through its Fairwind Program. Developers, businesses and consumers get it after that. Google gave no date for wider release. The company also said it is taking part in "the U.S. government's voluntary process for pre-release model testing."

Benchmarks (Google's own figures unless noted)

Google says it ran the external benchmarks "without guardrails." Apart from the Artificial Analysis ranking, Funded Weekly has not independently checked these results.

Pricing: Carbon launches at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens (introductory price, per Google), the same as Argon, with cached input priced at 95% off. Once the introductory period ends, Google says the price goes to $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens. Google didn't say when the introductory period ends.

The announcement is signed by Koray Kavukcuoglu, SVP, Google DeepMind and chief AI architect at Google.
